A port-of-call unlike any other. Designed by interior architect Sylvestre Murigneux to offer a contemporary cocoon, Maya Hotel Courchevel 1850 reinvents a high-altitude stay by steeping it in aesthetics marked by Japanese influences. “It is your new home in the mountains. A place for serenity and coming together again, far from the bustle of the resort,” says the team, loyal to the Maya Collection philosophy.
This boutique hotel stands out for its collaboration with La Maison Lalique, a symbol of the French art of living, whose iconic pieces and exclusive designs are unveiled in poetic staging. As they enter, a crystal chandelier welcomes guests, giving the space a soothing, velvety atmosphere. With its 14 rooms, Maya Hotel Courchevel 1850 is rather like a cosy refuge where everything invites you to simply chill out: from rooms and suites with sleek lines bathed in light to the hotel’s two real treasures: the Lalique Master Suite and Lalique Apartment, adorned with unique pieces. All around, natural materials – wood, stone, bronze and metal – create well-balanced harmony between timeless sophistication and modern-day comfort, composing decor resembling a breath of fresh air. “We wanted each detail to hit the spot,” says the Hotel Manager.
The hotel’s identity would not be complete without its cult restaurant: MayaBay Courchevel 1850 takes its place at the heart of the hotel perfectly naturally, the first Alpine interpretation of the concept born in Monaco. “Our regular guests must find the same references here, feel the same excitement. Three-quarters of the kitchen brigade in fact come from the Principality, guarantors of our high demands.” On the menu, great Thai/Japanese classics which won the success of the restaurant in Monaco – rolls, curries, sushi – rub shoulders with exclusive creations such as the iconic pizza with Petrossian caviar, served as an aperitif. “We were keen to preserve the DNA of MayaBay Monaco while introducing the flavours of Alpine terroirs that reflect the seasons.” Adjoining the restaurant, the mixology bar is rather like an insiders’ lounge inviting guests to extend their evening in an intimate setting, conducive to moments of sharing, large or small celebrations. Service also strikes the right note: attentive, discreet, always ready to surprise the guests.
Sheltered from any commotion, Maya Hotel Courchevel 1850 hosts a special space: Maya Well, designed in partnership with the Japanese brand Forlle’d. Inspired by Japan’s beauty care rituals, this collaboration cultivates excellence, authenticity, and close attention to detail. Everything here portrays gentleness and moderation. A natural extension of this mantra, Maya Hotel Courchevel 1850 holds a dialogue with the group’s two other Alpine addresses: Le Refuge de la Traye in Méribel, a hamlet surrounded by nature, and Le Maya Altitude, a high-flying restaurant on the peaks of Les Trois Vallées. “In our establishments, we imagine ways of experiencing the mountains differently,” says the team. “Courchevel is a legendary resort, we wanted to give it new impetus, a kind of balance.” Three destinations, a single signature: that of a refined, sincere art of living in which each instant becomes a rare, unforgettable respite.
