The ultimate experience at the heart of Les 3 Vallées

Far removed from any disturbance, Le Refuge de la Traye invites you to step outside time, very close to nature. A corner of paradise for travellers in search of authenticity and exclusiveness.

Luxury, quietness and… intimacy

Built of materials typical of the region, Le Refuge de La Traye has preserved its soul as a mountain refuge. As witnessed by the presence of the Chapelle Saint-Bernard on its estate, patron saint of the Alps and mountaineers. In a spirit both discreet and family-orientated, Le Refuge de la Traye can only accomodate 17 guests in its six rooms and suites.

With a focus on the tiniest details, the Refuge's interior decor embodies classic Alpine codes while giving a place of honour to sophisticated modern furniture, endowing it with a cosy atmosphere typical of mountain chalets. The views of the surrounding mountains guarantee a feeling of escapism and total disconnection. The Crocus, Marguerite, Gentiane, and Violette rooms are designed for two guests, the Orchidée suite can accommodate four. Totally independent, the Prestige Edelweiss suite (80 sqm) offers more privacy. With its very spacious sitting-room with a fireplace, its double bedroom, a mezzanine area sleeping three, and its independent outdoor jacuzzi, it is much appreciated by families.

La Table de la Traye

Staying at Le Refuge de la Traye also fulfills the promise of a gourmet experience. On arrival, you will be welcomed by a delicious cup of hot chocolate served directly from the cauldron. Authored by Chef Dominique Nouvian under the gustatory supervision of star-rated Chef Akrame Benallal, the menu of La Table de la Traye proposes convivial cuisine giving priority to regional specialities, occasionally tweaked, but always prepared on the spot with high-quality local and seasonal produce, mostly organic.

On the programme, Fricassée of snails with garlic and green sauce, Terrine of duck and homemade foie gras, Veal chops cooked in a sautée pan,  Arctic char with pumpkin purée, Crozets in risotto style with Beaufort cheese and white truffles. As for desserts, be sure to save room for the signature dish by Chef Akrame, charcoal-grilled black pineapple. On chilly winter days, guests are delighted to snuggle by the fireside in the dining-room, but with the arrival of fine weather, they take advantage of the scenic terrace overlooking the valley.

Throughout the summer, outdoor concerts are held here to add the final perfect touch to a setting which is already unique. Finally, this winter, the Refuge's restaurant is inaugurating a brand new space, "La Ferme à Fromages", a place for sharing which can be privatised for a tasty Savoyard experience.

An exclusive spa

Le Refuge de la Traye is the ideal place in which to recharge your batteries, and that's not counting its amazing spa designed to offer a pause for total disconnection. In addition to treatments signed CODAGE, Verso or Nectarome, the "Montage du Refuge" ritual honours ancestral practices of Tyrolean farmers. An absolute must, this treatment designed for two consists of a milk bath followed by relaxation on a bed of hay and a soothing massage.

To meet all your needs, even the most specific, the Refuge's spa is also equipped with a series of exclusive devices at the cutting edge of  technology: the Iyashi Dome deploying the powers of infratherapy, Mostleds with LED light therapy, the Wellsystem enabling full reactivation of the metabolism, and Stendo, a medical device dispensing a cardio-synchronized massage for improved blood circulation and regulation of the arteries.

An eco-responsible Alpine cocoon

Surrounded by mountains, Le Refuge de la Traye is committed to taking care of its environment. The accent is thus placed on ecological responsibility. This has led to numerous initiatives, including the acquisition of the Pinzelec, an all-electric all-terrain vehicle for moving around, and a hybrid Land Rover.

In the rooms, efforts have also been made with the use of innovative materials, especially for the padding of duvets and pillows, and eco-designed bed linen using recycled materials. In the kitchen, local, short-circuit products are preferred, and beehives have been installed on the estate. Water and electricity management is also carefully controlled with, for example, installation of water regulators and the use of low-consumption light bulbs.

Finally, special attention is paid to the handling of packaging and the sorting of waste.

Unforgettable memories for adults… and kids!

For initiation in archery or biathlon shooting, organizing a hike or an excursion on snowshoes, electric mountain bikes, MoonBikes (electric snow scooters), Ziesel (all-electric all-terrain vehicle with two tracks), enjoying a movie screening or picking plants in the nearby area, do not hesitate to call on Refuge de la Traye ambassadors who are delighted to welcome families.

By combining a high-end approach with a program dedicated to children, Le Refuge guarantees rest for parents and fun for kids. In winter, toboggan rides, treasure hunts, electric snowmobile circuits, Via Ferrata, and Tyrolean sessions are all specially designed for them. In summer, the entire family will fall for Black Nose sheep from Le Valais, cheeky goats, and long-haired little donkeys in the educational farm. Your children can also stretch their legs on the track in the Refuge's wooden playground or participate with you in pastry classes or initiation in pottery all year long. Not forgetting the indoor playroom, ideal in uncertain weather.
