For 170 years, World Fairs have presented the entire world with the progress achieved in all ares of human activity. Over the past few years, the accent has been placed on international cooperation and a search for solutions enabling us to build tomorrow's world together.
As perfectly illustrated by the theme of Expo 2020 Dubai: "Connecting Minds, Creating the Future". Lying south of the city of Dubai, the site is laid out in three districts on different themes (Opportunity, Mobility, Sustainability), housing the pavilions of 192 participating countries. They all converge towards Al Wasl Plaza, the iconic hub of the Exhibition, bearing the historic name of Dubai, meaning "connection" in Arabic.
Monaco Pavilion
In the Opportunity district, Monaco's Pavilion, called "Monaco 360°", stands out for its highly contemporary architecture inspired by the famous Rock of Monaco. Designed by Olivier Deverini, founder of the AODA architectural firm, assisted by the OOS Studio and Facts & Fiction agency, its resemblance to a precious stone is crystal clear.
Consisting of photovoltaic panels, its multiple facets represent the Principality's many assets that visitors are invited to discover inside the building. Such as the Sovereign Prince's commitment to protection of the environnement, illustrated, among other things, by the use of 100 % recyclable steel for the pavilion's main structure. Just like the streets of Monaco, its surface area of 1,770 sq.m is shared out on different levels. The kaleidoscope at the entrance to the "Garden of Opportunities" is not to be missed: it offers 360° immersion in the Principality's history, culture and values.
